In this image, Graf, a middle-aged Caucasian man with graying, brown hair is on the far left. He is wearing a bright red shirt and extending his hand to shake that of Flamini. Dr. Flamini, on the right of the image, is a balding Italian man who is smiling broadly. Behind the men is a screen displaying a blue background with a scratchy white line that represents the successful results of the SHARAD antenna echo test.

Shaking on SHARAD's Success

Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter Project Manager Jim Graf congratulates Dr. Enrico Flamini, the Italian Space Agency's program manager for the Shallow Subsurface Radar (SHARAD). In the background, on the screen, is the visual representation of the echo pulse that the antenna sent and received from the surface of Mars. This exercise demonstrated that the antenna is working properly.
