NASA's Mars rover Curiosity took 18 images in Gale Crater using its mast-mounted Left Navigation Camera (Navcam) to create this mosaic. The seam-corrected mosaic provides a 360-degree cylindrical-perspective projection panorama of the Martian surface suitable for stereo viewing, centered at 68 degrees azimuth (measured clockwise from north). This single-eye view must be combined with the partner right image to be viewed in stereo. Curiosity took the images on January 04, 2013, Sol 147 of the Mars Science Laboratory mission at drive 1902, site number 5. The local mean solar time for the image exposures was from 1 PM to 2 PM. Each Navcam image has a 45-degree field of view.
