5) Acoustic Test Prep (copyright also: LMA): Anyone who stands near a speaker at a concert or by a loud construction drill can feel the vibrations caused by sound waves. Sound waves are extremely strong at launch, when hundreds of thousands of pounds of propellant blast the spacecraft into space. Technicians, scientists, and engineers prepare the 2001 Odyssey Spacecraft for an acoustic test, which verifies that the spacecraft will be able to survive the loud acoustic environment during launch.
