14) THEMIS Infrared test (copyright also: SBRS): These images were taken by the THEMIS instrument out the back door of the fabrication facility at Hughes Santa Barbara Remote Sensing just before delivery to Kennedy Space Center. The top image shows the scene in visible light, as your eye would see it. The center image shows a THEMIS infrared image. Note the bright appearance of the warm rooftop n the left foreground, and the exposures of bare rock on the mountains in the distance, 10 miles away. The people in the last image are blurred because the focus for the instrument is set at infinity.
